Residential carpentry is a broad term, so here's exactly where we sit in it. We do the structural side: floor, wall and roof framing, beams, posts and lintels, second storeys, rear additions, and the decks and pergolas that get built once a house is closed in. We don't do internal fit-out — no kitchens, wardrobes or trim. Being clear about that saves everyone a phone call.
Half of our work is new homes on release-area blocks. The other half is existing homes, which is a different job entirely: nothing is square, the levels aren't where the drawings say, and the new structure has to be tied into something built decades ago. That work rewards checking twice.

Homeowners
Extensions, second storeys, granny flats and decks. You'll deal with the person doing the work, get a clear scope in plain English, and know what happens on which day.
Owner-builders
You're managing the build and need a framing crew that turns up and doesn't need chasing. We'll tell you what documentation we need and what the frame stage involves.
Builders and developers

Carpentry on a house that's already standing
Working on an established home is mostly a survey job before it's a carpentry job. We check the existing levels, find out where the load is actually going, and confirm the existing structure can take what's being added — before anything is cut or removed.
The common ones: a rear extension tied into an old roofline, a second storey over a single-storey brick home, a wall opened up for a beam, a subfloor that needs re-framing. Each of those has an unknown in it, and the honest approach is to find the unknown early and tell you what it means rather than discover it mid-build.

Residential carpentry questions we get asked
What counts as residential carpentry?
For us it's the structural and outdoor carpentry on homes: floor, wall and roof framing, beams and posts, extensions and second storeys, granny flats, and decks and pergolas. We don't do internal fit-out work like kitchens, wardrobes or skirting.
Do you only work on new homes?
No. Roughly half our work is on existing homes — extensions, second-storey additions, structural repairs and outdoor structures. Older homes usually need more thought at setout stage, not less.
Can you work on an occupied house?
Yes, and it changes how we sequence the job. We'll talk through access, noise and what stays weatherproof at each stage before we start rather than working it out around you.
Do you do small jobs?
We do. A deck, a pergola or a single-room extension is normal work for us alongside full house frames. If it's genuinely a handyman-sized job we'll tell you honestly that we're not the right fit.
How do I get a price?
Send your plans and engineering documentation through and we'll review the scope and come back with a quote and a likely start window. For smaller jobs, photos and dimensions are often enough to start the conversation.
