Sydney Carpenter | Residential Timber Framing Across Sydney
Jirah Carpentry is a residential carpentry and timber framing business working right across Sydney. We frame new houses, duplexes, granny flats, extensions and outdoor structures — and we travel for the work. If your project is in Sydney or Greater Sydney, we'll come to you.
Most people looking for a Sydney carpenter want the same two things: someone who reads the plans properly, and someone who turns up when they said they would. That's the whole basis of how we work. The frame is the part of the build every trade behind it inherits, so we set it out directly from your drawings and engineering documentation, raise anything that doesn't stack up before it gets built, and hand over a frame the next trades can work off instead of work around.
Our Sydney carpentry work is residential and structural. We work for builders, developers, project managers and owner-builders. Some clients hand us a full house frame and a program date. Others need a granny flat framed behind an existing home, a rear extension tied into an old roof, or a deck built properly the first time. All of it gets the same approach.
If you're comparing carpenters in Sydney, the quickest way to get a real answer from us is to send through your plans — we'll review them and come back with a quote and a start window.
Framing carpenters Sydney builders can hand a set of plans to
We're framing carpenters first. Wall, floor and roof framing, structural beams, posts and lintels, bracing and tie-down to the engineer's specification — plus the outdoor structures that get built once the house is closed in. If you're looking for house framing contractors for a single dwelling, a dual occupancy or a small development, that's the core of what we do every week.
It's residential carpentry Sydney-wide, and every frame is set out on site from your architectural drawings. Where the documentation needs clarifying, we ask before it's framed rather than after.
There's more detail on the framing side across Sydney on our timber framing page, on frame-only contracts for builders on our house framing contractors page, and on the wider scope on our residential carpentry page.
Sydney carpentry, region by region
We service all of Sydney and Greater Sydney. Our base is Western Sydney, which is where most of our work sits, but we are not limited to it. Below is every region we cover and the kind of carpentry that comes up most often in each — a genuine picture of where we work, not a list of postcodes.
Western Sydney
Our home ground. Knockdown-rebuilds, duplexes on subdivided blocks and granny flats behind existing houses, from Parramatta out through Blacktown, Penrith, St Marys and Fairfield.
Hills District
New home framing on the newer estates, plus decks, pergolas and second-storey additions on established homes.
Campbelltown & Macarthur
House and duplex framing across the South-West release areas, usually on tight build programs where the frame has to be up on the date it was promised.
Canterbury-Bankstown
Dual-occupancy and granny flat framing on older, deeper blocks, and structural carpentry for full-house renovations.
Inner West
Rear extensions, second storeys and structural repair work on terraces, semis and Federation homes where the existing structure has to be worked with, not around.
St George
Extensions, granny flats and re-framing on brick homes through Kogarah, Hurstville and the surrounding suburbs.
Sutherland Shire
Renovations, upper-floor additions and decks — including sloping-block work where the subfloor and bearer setout does most of the heavy lifting.
Eastern Suburbs
Extension and renovation framing on tight sites with limited access, where the setout has to be right the first time.
North Shore
Additions, alterations and deck framing on established homes, often on sloping sites with mature trees to work around.
Northern Beaches
Renovation and extension framing, decks and pergolas, with exposure and coastal conditions factored into the material and fixing choices.
Suburbs we work in most often
Two of the regions above already have local pages underneath them. In the Hills District that covers Kellyville, Box Hill and The Hills District. Across Campbelltown and Macarthur it covers Campbelltown, Camden, Oran Park, Leppington, Edmondson Park and Austral.

Why builders keep us on as their carpenters in Sydney
Set out from the plans, not from guesswork
We read the drawings and the engineering documentation, and we query anything unclear before it's framed. Fixing a setout later costs everyone.
We work to the program
You get a start window and we hold it. If something changes at our end, you hear it from us early, not on the day.
You deal with the person doing the work
No layers. The person quoting your job is on site framing it.
Residential framing is all we do
Houses, duplexes, granny flats, extensions, decks. Nothing on your job is a first for us.

Sydney carpentry questions we get asked
Do you really work across all of Sydney?
Yes. We're based in Western Sydney and that's where most of our work sits, but we travel across Sydney and Greater Sydney for framing and carpentry work. If you're unsure whether your job is too far, call and ask.
What's the difference between a carpenter and a framing carpenter?
Framing carpentry is the structural stage — wall, floor and roof framing, beams, posts, lintels, bracing and tie-down. That's our focus. General carpentry can cover fit-out and finishing work as well. We do the structural work plus outdoor structures like decks and pergolas.
Can you quote from plans?
Yes. Send your architectural drawings and engineering documentation through and we'll review them and come back with a quote and a likely start window. You don't need to have us on site to get a price.
Do you take on smaller jobs?
We do. A granny flat frame, a deck or a single-room extension is normal work for us alongside full house frames.
How far ahead do you get booked?
It depends on the season and what's already on the board. Tell us the date you need the frame up and we'll be straight with you about whether we can hold it.
